 OUTDOOR BOULDERING WORKSHOP

with Esther Foster at Bonehill Rocks, Dartmoor | 09:30 - 16:00

In the beginning, outdoor bouldering can often feel harder and more intimidating than indoor bouldering, requiring skills that you don’t get the opportunity to develop indoors….such as topping out boulders! This workshop will help develop your skills and confidence on outdoor rock, learning lots of crucial outdoor tricks and tactics in part of a supportive and fun group.Topics to include: conditions and movement on different rock types, move reading, how to choose outdoor boulder problems, safety, projecting and mindset.

Suitable for: those who are new to bouldering outdoors; those who have bouldered outdoors before but often find it hard and/or intimidating; and those who would like some tips and tactics to continue developing their outdoor bouldering

YOU WILL NEED: rock shoes, chalk, a bouldering mat (if you have one), warm outdoor clothing and jackets suitable for a day outdoors, lunch and a drink, small rucksack, hat and gloves, outdoor trainers.

MEETING POINT: Esther will send you final details beforehand; either meeting in Exeter to car share or meeting at Bonehill Rocks, Dartmoor.

WEATHER: Esther will keep an eye on the weather forecast and contact you before the day to let you know where to meet. If the weather conditions prevent outdoor bouldering then the day will be delivered at The Climbing Hangar, Exeter, where Esther will still be able to provide you with high quality coaching and input specific to outdoor bouldering.

A day full of take away-able strategies, techniques and skills to help you maximise and enjoy your climbing more.
