Jule Wurm joins WCS16 Coaching team

We are proud to announce Jule Wurm as the newest addition to the WCS coaching team!

In her ten-year competition career, Jule has competed in all disciplines of the sport, culminating in winning the Bouldering World Championship in 2014 in front of a home crowd in Munich. In 2015 she made the big decision to retire from the circuit in favour of spending more time on the rock, her medical studies and with family and friends. She now coaches the German Youth Climbing Team, and will bring all of this experience and psyche to this year's WCS coaching team.

WCS caught up with Jule quickly about her experiences in the last year, her plans for the future, and what she thinks of WCS:

What has been the highlight of your last year?

I had a really good trip with Jan to Hueco Tanks in February and a short trip with Anna Stöhr to Japan during spring, which was amazing, too. Also I became part of the German youth coaching team, where I spent a few fun weekends and learned many new things. So it´s hard to name one highlight ;)

Do you miss competition climbing?

Somehow I don´t really miss it. I´m very happy with what I reached in my competition career and don´t feel like I missed anything. Through my activity as a youth coach I´m also attending a few World Cups, so I also get to see all my friends from the international comp scene.

Who are you coaching at the moment, and how are you finding it?

I´m part of the coaching team for the German Youth Climbing Team. Until now I had a lot of fun with the German youngsters and it´s interesting for me to get to see comps from the other side.

Any thoughts on the Women's Climbing Symposium?

I´m definitely looking forward to it. I´ve already heard a lot about it and it looks like great fun!!
