This workshop is for anyone interested in learning the basics of route setting or for those wanting to improve their existing route setting skills. This is a full day workshop from 9am until 4pm. The day will start with an overview on setting safety from The Depot Climbing Centre Manchester manager Tom Newman. Jackie will then give challenge assignments to experienced setters and go through tools and basic techniques those who are new to setting. Next Jackie will run setting exercises and lead the group through the testing process where you will discuss and improve everyone's boulder problems.
If you are new to setting you will leave this workshop with an understanding of fundamental setting theories and basic setting skills that you can build upon back at your leisure. If you are already a route setter, Jackie will assign you more advanced exercises to enhance your understanding of creating and refining movements for specific a purpose. She can also target certain areas such as competition setting. There will be a discussion of the requirement for a testing process followed by the group testing session.
