Adela CarterI’m a strength and conditioning coach working with a range of people from everyday athletes to Olympic and Paralympic performers. I started the climbing strength and conditioning coaching sessions at Sheffield Hallam University and have seen them really take off with new coaches coming on board and building up their experience working with some of the best climbers in the country. Sporting success motivates me, but helping people upgrade themselves... that drives me.
Belinda FullerBe is the founding director of Be Climbing. She has been coaching for over 10 years and is now an established performance coach and nutritionist. She has a degree in Adventure Education, ranked as one of the top 10 women’s boulderers, and after university travelled the world climbing. Be understands what it takes, technically, physically and mentally to develop an individual’s climbing and have fun doing it! She now enjoys coaching all abilities, from beginners to international competitors.
Claire YoudaleClaire has climbed for 15 years and has bouldered all over the world, most recently in her new favourite place, Rocklands. She has been a coach at The Climbing Works in Sheffield for 7 years working with people of all ages and abilities achieve their goals. Claire is currently working towards her Development Coach and, supported by Beta Climbing Designs, runs frequent InsideOut courses helping climbers make the transition to real rock. In 2017 these were part of the ‘This Girl Can'.
Emily NichollEmily Nicholl is one of Scotland’s leading circus and physical theatre artists. A hand to hand flyer, she works dynamically with partner acrobatic dance, handtohand techniques and doubles aerial. Emily currently performs with award-winning contemporary circus theatre company Ockham's Razor and is found climbing or giving movement, flexibility or Acrobalance/AcroYoga classes when not touring.
Emma TwyfordI have been climbing from the age of 7 dipping into most areas and styles of climbing to try and be as good at everything as I can be. For the last 5 years I've made the leap into route setting and coaching, helping people to improve their technical and mental abilities. It's great to see people take on board this info and then put it to good use. To me it's about having fun and learning new skills all the time, which is why I push outside comfort zones as much as possible.
Esther FosterEsther has been climbing for 15 yrs, starting out as an indoor climber in Liverpool. She now holds the Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA) and works throughout northern England and Scotland guiding, instructing and coaching. Esther has trad climbed E5, sport climbed 8a and bouldered 7c. She loves coaching and teaching others, and seeing women of all abilities at the WCS realise their potential, have fun and develop their climbing. Find Esther’s website at: www.estherfoster.co.uk
Eva LopezEva is a passionate sport climber from Spain who has climbed up to 8c+. She currently works as a climbing coach and gives lectures and workshops. She has a Ph.D., with her doctoral thesis on Finger Strength Training. An avid researcher, she also writes about training in climbing for various magazines and websites, such as www.archclimbingwall.com and her own blog: www.en-eva-lopez.blogspot.com.
Gracie MartinGracie has been climbing for around 10 years and in that times have mainly focussed on bouldering competition climbing. In recent years she has moved her skills outside, and over the summer spent 2 months climbing in the bouldering mecca of Rocklands. Gracie has been coaching for around 3 years, running women’s only sessions and working with local junior climbing teams. She loves being able to help and see people try harder than ever before to find new limits.
Jemma PowellJemma has been a climber for over twenty years. She has experience of coaching both the British Junior Team and the Welsh Academy. As a junior she achieved personal bests as British Lead and Bouldering Champion and achieved a world ranking of 5th place. Jemma has trad climbed up to E7 and bouldered 8a. As a full time mum and a full time teacher, she is fully familiar with the challenges we face when trying to set goals and achieve targets!
Katie MundyOwner of Eden Rock in Carlisle and a new mother, Katie has been climbing for 15 years and can often be found on a hard sandstone test piece in her home county of Northumberland. She is an ambassador for Beta Climbing, Tenaya and Snap.
Katie has been coaching for over 6 years and is one of only a handful of coaches to hold the Development Coach Award. As a head coach at Eden Rock, she is heavily involved in the Youth Team development, individual coaching, training workshops and route setting.
Katherine SchirrmacherBased in Sheffield, and with over 10 years of coaching experience Katherine has coached hundreds of people of all abilities with varied climbing aims. She loves to help climbers achieve their goals whilst maintaining a full life.
Katherine enjoys all kinds of climbing and finds it hard to choose her favourite! Highlights include trad climbing in Arapiles (Australia), bouldering in Hueco (USA) and sport climbing in the south of France. She runs www.lovetoclimb.co.uk
